EZPay launches assault on travel market
EZPay – the pre-paid card supplier of the Phones4U Group – is launching a major travel trade push in a bid to sign distribution deals with agents and tour operators.
The company has set its sights on potential partners doing significant tailor-made business as well as flight specialists serving long-haul and ethnic markets, believing they fit well with its two pre-paid MasterCard products.
EZPay offers a dedicated card for holidaymakers, Escape Travel Money, which combines better-than-high-street exchange rates with fee-free uses overseas; and the Escape Card, offering free international money transfer which is popular with people sending money to friends and family overseas.
Selling the cards offers attractive earning potential as well as providing a useful add-on service to clients. Since launching less than two years ago, EZPay has transformed the pre-paid card market with its market-leading range of benefits. Cards can be used without charge and offer users a range of loyalty shopping benefits.
EZPay managing director Paul Smith said: “It is over a year since the publication of a Mintel report on travel money which said the pre-paid card market was a major growth sector, but only if it was more honest about charges. We are leading the way with new levels of price transparency.
“At present, many independent retailers offer the Travelex card but this has a very poor exchange rate for customers. Our rates are much more attractive and we can offer better earning potential for our partners in terms of commission. Overseas holidaymakers using the Escape Travel use it just like a normal MasterCard and there are no fees for use or withdrawing money from ATMs.”
Smith added that EZPay can offer its retail partners point of sale material and marketing support.
